Our hero microalgae is cultivated in closed-loop photobioreactors using upcycled CO₂. Through photosynthesis, this process converts carbon into oxygen and biomass, making the growth phase carbon-negative while avoiding land degradation, excessive water use, or impact on natural ecosystems.
We partner with suppliers who prioritise clean energy and responsible sourcing, ensuring sustainability is embedded at every stage - not added as an afterthought.
A percentage of AGWÉ profits also supports reef restoration projects in Australia, helping restore the waterways that inspire everything we create.
Dr Shiva Farabi
With a PhD in Cosmetic Science and more than a decade in advanced skincare and haircare innovation, Dr Shiva Farabi has devoted her career to understanding how the skin and scalp interact with their environment. Before co-founding AGWÉ, Shiva spent years leading innovation in the cosmeceutical space, where she learned how science can truly transform skin health when approached with purpose and care.
For Shiva, AGWÉ was born not only from expertise but from experience. Living with scalp psoriasis and inflammation, and later experiencing postpartum hair loss, she searched endlessly for relief, trying countless products and even medical treatments like minoxidil, only to find her scalp more sensitive and unbalanced. Through this journey, she discovered something simple yet profound: true hair vitality begins with a healthy, hydrated, and resilient scalp.
Her fascination with marine ecosystems, their harmony, renewal, and quiet strength, became the inspiration behind AGWÉ’s ocean-biotech philosophy. By studying how microalgae and marine actives protect and repair in extreme environments, Shiva envisioned a new generation of scalp care that nurtures the skin at its source.
At AGWÉ, she leads product innovation with a focus on sustainability, clinical efficacy, and making science approachable and human. Her work bridges beauty and biology, turning complex research into meaningful rituals that restore confidence and wellbeing.

Adrian De Brock
Adrian De Brock is a Certified Trichologist and co-founder of AGWÉ, specialising in scalp health and the biological foundations of healthy hair growth. His work focuses on understanding the scalp as a living ecosystem, where follicle biology, microbiome balance and environmental stressors interact to influence long-term hair vitality.
Adrian’s path into trichology was personal. After experiencing his own scalp and hair concerns, he became determined to understand the science behind hair thinning, inflammation and follicle health. This led him to formally study trichology, equipping him with the clinical knowledge to better understand the root causes of scalp imbalance and hair loss.
Through this training, Adrian recognised that most haircare focuses on the hair fibre rather than the scalp environment itself. This insight shaped his vision for AGWÉ: to create a scalp care range centred on balancing and nurturing the scalp as the foundation for healthy hair growth, guided by a philosophy that scalp care should be approached with the same precision and care as skincare.
Alongside his trichology practice, Adrian brings more than two decades of experience in luxury beauty and skincare communications, including six years with a leading cosmeceutical brand, where he developed a deep respect for evidence-based formulation and scientific innovation.
Raised on Australia’s Mid-North Coast, Adrian has long viewed the ocean as a place of restoration and medicine, an influence that now underpins AGWÉ’s ritual-driven approach to scalp health and wellbeing.
